New Adventures

I’ve started a new adventure! I just signed up with The Institute for Integrative Nutrition to become a health and wellness coach. I’ve been researching programs and avenues that I can go down once I’m certified.

I’m getting ahead of myself though. Over the last couple years I’ve become borderline obsessed with health and wellness. This does NOT mean that I’m perfect . I just ate a healthy home cooked meal that I prepared for the family and then stood in the pantry eating old Halloween candy . I’m feeling pretty damn balanced right now !

I did not grow up eating what’s considered healthy meals by today’s standards. My mom and dad always had a meal on the table for me and my siblings and for that I’m thankful. I loved the occasional TV dinner, Hostess fruit pies , fruit snacks and fruity pebbles in half and half . I rarely sat inside and was always outside playing on the swing set, in a field or my dads farm ( avoiding cow patties of course). In high school ( go Highland Scotties!) I played basketball, tennis, was on the drill team and my senior year was a cheerleader. But I ate terribly. So.much.fried.food. Oh and I partied. I along with a few close girlfriends, sought out trouble like no other . If there was a party with booze, cigarettes and boys WE WERE THERE!

It wasn’t until I was in college that I had two roommates that showed me a better, healthier way . I mean they had a JUICER. It was the coolest thing I’d ever seen AND I felt great drinking their concoctions. It was then that I started going to yoga and fell in love.

Fast forward 25 years. Woah, that’s a lot of years. I can’t say I stopped eating unhealthy foods all those years ago or that I stopped partying. More on that later. It’s been a very gradual sloooooooow learning curve for me.

In my thirties I got married and started a family. As in on the same day . Who knew I was so fertile ?! Since then I’ve been a busy mom, found Jesus one morning, starting working to lose the baby weight and became obsessed with nutrition and wellness.

I find myself at a place where I want to share my thoughts on all this. Maybe to help clear the thoughts from my head. It’s way more than that. I want to lift up women and straighten their crowns. I want to see you all be confident and powerful. I want you to feel good about your body, proud of all it can do.

So that is why I’m here. To join forces with all the ladies. We are stronger together. As I go through health coaching school I plan to share this new exciting adventure. My hope is together we inspire and shine our light.

Xo, Rebecca
